Well, I'm glad you aren't looking down on them, it's just the way it came across, especially by your 'just confirming suspicions' response to them. Sorry for misreading it.
I'm also sorry for coming across as hypocritical. It wasn't my intention to sound as if I was saying you shouldn't post your own opinions. I just think you could have been a bit more sensitive in the way you went about it as it seems you hurt the persons feelings and made them feel as if their opinions were childish.
I suppose we should just chalk this up to misinterpretation on both sides and forget about it.
