Penelope

Can Penelope be considered family? There not married and therefore aren't family. Shall I change it? VaniVoid97 20:34, January 2, 2012 (UTC)

I think it's safe to keep it, as the Cooper Gang shares some strong bonds with each other, and this one is no different.  Shrev64  Talk  Contribs  Master Thief  20:42,1/2/2012

Origin

Can anyone provide a source on the beginning of Bentley's history section, where it says that "Bentley walked away from the swamp he called home and was separated from his siblings. He was found by a relative of Mrs. Puffin..."? An official source says otherwise (see this thread).

Same thing with "Scary John" the janitor during the cookie heist - when is the janitor given that name? I'm almost certain that none of this information is true, but I'd just like to make sure. ~ TheRameRaise [Talk • Contributions] 06:28, June 7, 2015 (UTC)

Yeah, I've wondered where it was said that Bentley came from the swamp, I always thought he was delivered to the orphanage as an egg.
As for Scary John, I could swear he was named in The Adventures of Sly Cooper, issue 1, but I guess not. I suppose that reading the Bentley page essentially implanted the idea into many of our heads. Doing a bit more research has revealed that it probably came from a fan fiction from 2007. (Traumatizing by Winged Giraffe, if anyone is wondering.) Tenbeat 13:57, June 7, 2015 (UTC)
I was wrong, by the way. The janitor is actually named "Scary John" in the book Sly Cooper: To Catch a Thief. Just bought it and read it today, so that's the source on his name. Tenbeat 18:11, September 29, 2015 (UTC)
So, the "wandering from the swamp" as a child actually comes from the Sly 2: Band of Thieves Official Strategy Guide, which came out later than the website and is also considered "Official" by Sony (that's what that word actually means, funnily enough; they can't put that word on the cover unless Sony officially agrees with everything in the strategy guide), so Bentley was in fact found by a relative of Mrs. Puffin and delivered to the orphanage. It actually makes a more compelling backstory, and it's kind of sad. Bentley's parents and family never died, he just wandered away from them and got lost due to have nearsightedness. -User:Tenbeat, Sly Cooper Wiki bureaucrat (talk ¤ contributions) 17:34, May 20, 2016 (UTC)
