Sly's Cane Replica

In March 2013, the @HeyPlayStation Twitter account ran a God of War: Ascension Collector's Edition giveaway. I was one of the five people who initially won, but after I had seen the other replies of more eager GoW fans wanting the CE (I hadn't even played any previous GoW game), I informed @HeyPlayStation to send my winning copy to someone else instead. I figured someone else would find infinitely more value in it than I would.

@HeyPlayStation replied that someone would definitely appreciate that, and that they didn't want to let my nice deed go unnoticed. They offered me a bronze replica of Sly Cooper's cane -- the same one that's displayed on that page, even with the stand! In early April, it arrived, and it was beautiful.

So, naturally, I made the Cane my 9001st tweet. And a better shot my 9002nd tweet. @HeyPlayStation noticed and sent me a message, happy that I liked the cane.

I love it, and it has stayed by me ever since. I also added its dimensions to the cane's article on this wiki. Now I just need to find some bronze shine...

The First Three

I was introduced to the series with Sly 2: Band of Thieves. I saw it in Best Buy's video game section when I was young, and asked my parents to get it because I wanted to see what the game was about. I fell in love with it quickly. I was so naïve back then, I had no idea the "2" meant it was a sequel. A friend of mine told me that there was such a thing as "Sly 1" so I made sure to grab that next. I remember thinking it was much more difficult than Sly 2 because of the lives and horseshoe system, but I eventually finished it.

At some point in 2004 or 2005, I found out that Sly 3 was going to be a thing, and waited impatiently for it. I finished that game to completion as well. My fondest memory of the series was attempting - and completing - the General Tsao boss fight early one morning, five minutes before I had to leave for school.

Like every other Sly fan, I was ecstatic to find out The Sly Collection was going to be a thing. I got it for Christmas in 2010, along with our first PS3 and Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit. I earned the Platinum Trophy in all three Sly games, as well as 100% on the minigames, within three and a half months.

In the summer of 2014, while visiting my then-girlfriend in California, I found the Vita version of the Sly Collection in a store. I've earned the Platinum in Sly 1, and I'm slowly working on the other two games.

I've lost the PS2 disc for Sly 2, but still have the PS2 discs for Sly 1 and Sly 3. I also have my PS2 save data for all three games backed up on my computer, for the day when I can properly emulate the games instead of using the Collection (the PS3 version has that annoying delayed dialogue bug in Sly 2 and 3, and the Vita version is on too small of a screen).

Thieves in Time

When Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time first came out, I said that Sanzaru Games did an amazing job, and I gave the game a 9/10 rating, citing Spark Runner, the Black Knight's backstory, and the final boss fight as what brought the game down but only in a minor way. I gave the Vita version a 7/10 due to constant crashes and occasional audio bugs, as well as lower graphics (understandably, given the lower specs, but still).

Looking back on it, I would give Thieves in Time an 8/10 now (still a 7/10 on the Vita). The Black Knight's backstory ruined one important aspect of the original trilogy, Spark Runner and other motion-controlled minigames were infuriating, and the final boss fight was quite uninspired.
