"Operation Cookie Connection" (also called the Cooky-Steelin' Plan [sic]) was the first heist ever undertaken by Sly Cooper, Murray, and Bentley, when they were children at the Happy Camper Orphanage. Its success led to the founding of the Cooper Gang.

Background

Sly Cooper met both Murray and Bentley after arriving at the Happy Camper Orphanage following the death of his parents at the hands of the Fiendish Five. Mrs. Puffin, the orphanage's headmistress, was considered a mean old bird. After she stole the children's Christmas cookies, the trio decided it was time to come up with a plan to steal them back.

Synopsis

Puffin's Cookie Jar

Bentley calculated that the average time between Mrs. Puffin leaving her office for the night and Scary John the janitor arriving to clean the place was 3 minutes and 42 seconds. This gave Sly just enough time to get in position inside the office and grab the cookies. Bentley used repurposed electronics and a "cupunicator" device to maintain communication with Sly through the window while he and Murray waited outside on a getaway trike.

Unfortunately, the young Sly was not strong enough to push Mrs. Puffin's desk into position, costing him valuable time. Bentley warned him to abort the mission and get out of there as Scary John arrived at the door to the office, forcing Sly to make a hasty climb to the top shelf where Puffin's Cookie Jar was kept. Sly managed to grab a handful of cookies[note 1] before being yanked out the window by a rope attached to the trike. Murray then crashed the trike after discovering that Bentley had not yet installed any brakes on the vehicle.

Aftermath

The success of the cookie stealing mission that night led to the birth of the Cooper Gang, the world's greatest gang of thieves.

The cookie jar was later sent back in time to the year 1001 AD. It was stolen again by Sly in Ancient Arabia.[1]

Notes

  1. According to the item description in Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time, the gang stole the entire jar rather than just a handful of cookies. The description also states that the jar was kept on a desk rather than atop a shelf.
