Wall edge move

The wall edge move is an ability that allows the user to sneak along aura-marked walls. Once near the stealth aura, hold down circle and move left analog stick to sneak along the wall. It is unknown which Cooper invented this move, though it was highly utilized in Slaigh MacCooper's section of the Cooper Vault.

In Sly 2: Band of Thieves, both Bentley and Murray gain the ability to sneak across walls. However, Bentley permanently loses this ability from Sly 3 onward due to the large size and clunky mechanics of his wheelchair. Murray loses the ability in Thieves in Time, although he can be seen using it in cutscenes.

In Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time, circle only needs to be pressed once instead of being held, similar to the Ninja Spire Jump and Rail Walk moves. Sly's ancestors (excluding Bob Cooper) can perform the wall edge move as well.

Trivia

  • In Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus, Sly will curl his tail around him when wall walking. This was removed in later games.
  • While using this technique, the Thief Meter will emit rings regardless if any enemies are nearby.
  • It is unknown why Bob Cooper cannot perform this move, as evidenced by Slaigh's ability to sneak against walls despite his large size.
