Yuendumu
Yuendumu, Australia is a location in Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves in the episode "Rumble Down Under."
History
The first job is "Search for the Guru," where Sly must find the Guru. He is told by Murray that the old cave is where the Guru normally resides. After checking that and finding no sign of the Guru, Murray tells Sly that he may be at the hut. After Sly reaches the hut, he still cannot find him, but sees that the place has been ransacked and figures that he may have been captured by the miners. Bentley comes on the line and informs Sly about a makeshift stockade near the miners hut where the Guru may be. After heading over to the stockade, Sly meets the Guru, who then requests to meet with Bentley and Murray separately.
Other tasks the gang has in Yuendumu are to steal back the Guru's equipment, destroy the drills, destroy the Mask of Dark Earth, and drive out the miners once and for all. During the heist, Carmelita interrupts and accidentally gets the mask attached to her face, which makes her grow to a tremendous size. The gang, along with the Guru, drives out to Ayers Rock to outrun her, but her size was too big. Their only option is for Sly to climb her and pull the mask off by hanging off of the hooks. The mask falls off and Carmelita shrinks. Her mercenaries gather around the mask to shoot at it until it blows. After that, the threat of the mask is gone, and the gang overlooks the view of the Outback, which is finally free of the miner's drilling.
Geography
Overview
The Australian Outback is home to The Guru, Murray's Dreamtime mentor. During the course of the second episode, Rumble Down Under, Sly, Bentley, and Murray has to get the Guru to join their team. They are faced with kangaroos and dingoes, along with the sinister Mask of Dark Earth.
The guards faced in this level are miners who are working at the various mines in the area. They patrol all around the mines and around the Lemonade bar. They use many types of drills to dig through the ground, looking for opals.
Ayers Rock
Ayers Rock is the common name for Uluru, a large sandstone rock formation in the Northern Territory of Australia. Sly Cooper, Bentley and Murray traveled to Ayers Rock in order to clear out a group of miners that had been drilling into the rock. Murray captured twenty red soldier scorpions with the Big Truck and used them to force the miners out of the area.[1] With Ayers Rock "purified," the Guru was free to use his powers.[2]
The Cooper Gang later ended up back in the area after using the Big Truck to try and escape from an oversized Carmelita wearing the Mask of Dark Earth.[3]
Caves
Outback bar
The Outback bar was a gathering point for all the miners in the Outback. It has only a large room with a bar, a few chairs and tables, a fireplace in the middle of the room and an electric fence.
The Cooper Gang tried to dominate the bar to intimidate the miners, in order to kick them out of the outback. To do that, they proposed a lemonade drinking contest against the three best miners. Although the Cooper Gang won the contest, the miners claimed that Bentley cheated, spilling more than he drank. A fight against the miners began, culminating with a mini-boss fight against a guard using the Mask of Dark Earth, where Sly Cooper, with the help of Bentley and Murray, defeated him. The Mask, however, escaped.
