Bentley: I hope you realize that by saving Carmelita we're only making our operation more difficult.
Sly: Maybe so, but what's the fun in stealing if there's nobody trying to catch you? Besides, she's helped us out in the past.
Bentley: That, and you've got a thing for her.

"Canal Chase" is a job for Bentley in "An Opera of Fear" of Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves.

Background

Sly and Bentley must save Carmelita from Octavio's goons.

Synopsis

Bentley finds out that Don Octavio hired the Blue Viper Gondola Gang to dispose of Inspector Carmelita Fox, who is on her daily patrol. Bentley contacts Sly about it, and while Sly makes his way to the rendezvous point, Bentley hot-wires a police gondola. Once Sly made it, the two of them set off in the gondola, with Bentley controlling the turret while Sly drove.

The canal Bentley and Sly are chasing the Vipers in is packed with other boats and obstacles, so they need to mind their surroundings during the chase. After defeating the Viper trio, Sly and Bentley return to the dock. Carmelita is completely unaware of what transpired, and finishes her patrol without incident. As Carmelita returns to the police station, she comments on how she has another uneventful patrol, to the point where it is "too quiet" for her tastes.

Bentley warns Sly that they are only making their operation more difficult by saving Carmelita once the duo return to the dock. Sly agrees, but he reminds Bentley that she has been a help to them before.[1][2] Bentley also points out that Sly has a thing for her too. While Sly admits it, he changes the subject by telling Bentley that he will stash the police boat somewhere safe, as it can come in handy for later.

Trivia

  • The music in this job is also used in the "Cops and Robbers" multiplayer mini-game.
