Dive, also called Fast Attack Dive Move, and Dive Collection are power-ups featured in Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus. Fast Attack Dive Move, invented by Drake Cooper, is obtainable from the first vault, and Dive Collection, invented by Chris Cooper, is obtainable from the fourth vault, not including blueprints. Dive Collection was carried over into the following games as a default ability for Sly Cooper.
Usage
While both versions of the power-up are referred to as Dive in-game, they have separate uses. Fast Attack Dive Move is activated by pressing on the ground and will send Sly into a forward dive while spinning his cane, ending in a small roll forward as a recovery animation. Dive Collection is activated by pressing while in the air, which will pull Sly downward into a head-first vertical dive while he spins his cane. Hitting the ground will send out a small shockwave that can damage guards and objects, and it can also collect coins.
The Fast Attack Dive Move is also available in Sly 2: Band of Thieves and Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves as Knockout Dive, which is also obtained from a vault. Dive Collection is a default ability for Sly in all following games and can be activated by pressing while in the air.
Obtaining this power-up unlocks the bronze trophy Dive Bomb.
