Guttural Roar
The Guttural Roar is a power-up for Murray in Sly 2: Band of Thieves and Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves. In Sly 2, it can be purchased during "Menace from the North, eh!" for 1,500 coins. In Sly 3, it can be purchased on day 1 of "Flight of Fancy" for 600 coins.
Description
Murray lets out a massive roar, scaring all enemies (including those that aren't in combat with or near Murray) away temporarily. After six seconds, the enemies will recover from their fright.
The combat timer continues to count down while enemies are in their frightened state, so if Murray leaves an enemy's line of sight for long enough while they are frightened, they will not enter back into combat with him. If the combat timer has not run out but Murray is no longer in their line of sight, the enemy will search for Murray until the timer runs out. Enemies that are unconscious for the roar but wake up during the six second period of fright will become frightened and run away.

- Bob Cooper has a similar ability in Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time.
- The roar Murray uses for the Guttural Roar was the same roar he used while under the effects of the spice and the hypno-boxes during "Operation: Trojan Tank." Murray also later used it before he fought Muggshot during "Cooper Hangar Defense."
- A slightly low-pitched version of the roar is used by the dragons summoned by the Chinese pigs in "A Cold Alliance."
